Desperate for change after a verbally abusive relationship, Brandi Wyne leaves a symphony career, her family, and the Poconos to fall back on a designing degree and a chance to renovate a restaurant/pub in Texas. Even though part of a National Guard family, she’d sworn off military men when the last one proved less than supportive of her thyroid condition and subsequent weight gain. Too bad her body seems to forget that fact whenever she’s near the very hot, very military local sheriff.

Texas Army National Guard First Sergeant Kade Dalton never planned on becoming Harland County Sheriff or the attraction to a curvy, military-hating designer from Pennsylvania. Heavy with guilt from the death of a soldier under his command during a recent deployment, and dealing with his co-owned horse ranch and a bungling young deputy, it's hard most days just to keep his sanity. But it’s the Yankee bombshell who threatens not only his sanity, but tempts his body...and his heart.

Fighting their attraction becomes a losing battle, and Kade soon finds sanctuary in the arms of the beautiful designer.  Does he really have the right to saddle Brandi with his stress issues? And if so, can he take a chance on the town’s newest resident not abandoning him like others in his past?

I really enjoy following these cowboys through their trying times, and love the fact that the characters from the previous books still show up in the next book. Great job, Donna Michaels, love those cowboys and the women who tame them." ~Debbie Collins

"I loved this third installment of the Harland County Series.  I loved how perfect they both were for each other and I enjoyed just how real these characters felt to me while I was getting to know them." ~Diana Coyle, Night Owl Reviews -Reviewer Top Pick

"Ms. Michaels pens a tale with pure heart and true grit!  This story will hit so many readers close to home there is not one part of the plot that will feel foreign. No super models here, just true, down to earth servicemen and woman getting back to their place in the world. The characters and plot have a wonderful arc and the laughter, tears and emotional ride readers get to take on this journey will not disappoint.  Adding Ms. Michaels to your list of favorites will undoubtedly be in order!"

"Kade and Brandi made a very good couple despite the rocky start they started off on. It was a very enjoyable read and you’ll like everybody associated with them. This is the third in the series, but it was really good. So if you get a chance, check out the series from the beginning and you probably won’t be disappointed.” ~Cassandra Graham, BTS eMagazine Reviews

"This is a very powerful story. The romance between Kade and Brandi is both heartbreaking and spectacular but what really makes this book is how Kade is affected and deals with one of his Guardsman's death. His daily struggle, the heartbreak and helplessness those that love him feels is a very powerful part of this book. I am so glad the author didn't whitewash the whole scenario. I don't want to give away too much of the story but I will say this book is one of my all time favorites because of subject matter and how the author handled it." ~Patsy
