The only thing that matters to Matteo “Reaper” Santarelli is ensuring his wife’s recovery and safety. Having almost lost her when their tires were shot out last year, he isn’t ready to let her leave his side or for her to get back to field work. She, of course, doesn’t share his concerns.

 

Besides her husband, the only thing that matters to Isabella “Banshee” Monroe Santarelli is getting out from behind a desk and back onto the streets or she was going to go freakin’ mad. After months of rest and recovery, they are both back to work at the agency, but stuck in the office. That didn’t cut it with her. She’s a woman of action, not inaction. She missed the adrenaline and the rush of tracking down scumbags and dealing out justice.

 

So when their boss at the Knight Agency sends them to a secret training ranch in Texas, co-owned by a fellow Knight, she is more than on board. Her husband not so much, because once they passed the training, they’d both be cleared for field work, and she knows Matteo is afraid to let her get back to work. But if she doesn’t, Bella’s afraid she’ll lose her edge.

 

But by the end of the first week, they accidentally discover an emerging terrorist cell forming from an influx of illegal aliens in the next town over. Matteo knows he can’t keep Bella out of it, and he shouldn’t. After all, she is a former terrorist hunter, and her skills were needed to discover the cell’s plans and the person giving the orders. After that, they’ll shut the cell down. He just hopes his wife didn’t do anything excessive…
